WHAT ARE SOME OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF USING BUCKET TRUCKS UNDER OSHA GUIDELINES?When operating close to power lines, exact requirements must be followed at all times. Firstly, only employees that are qualified should be allowed to use them and overhead lines should always be properly grounded. Also, the requirements for keeping a specific distance while using this equipment must be followed exactly to ensure the safety for both the operator and anyone within the operating space. Before being used, the controls should be marked clearly and visible by the operator and also should have tests conducted daily to guarantee absolute safety for all involved. Any employee that plans to operate bucket trucks should wear the proper protective gear as well. This gear includes such things as safety goggles, work gloves, hard hats, and appropriate protection from potential falling objects. The operator/employee of the safety bucket should always have his feet planted at its floor and the distribution and load should be checked regularly to ensure that they fall within the appropriate safety guidelines. The brakes should also be set and all of the controls should never be operated without the permission of the employee. All of these safety precautions are to ensure that people within the operating area of the trucks and equipment are safe at all times.
